Refund and return policy

At Flori Birds, the health, welfare, and ethical treatment of our parrots are our highest priorities. Because parrots are living, sensitive animals, our refund and return policy is designed to be fair, transparent, and responsible—protecting both the birds and our clients.

We encourage all customers to carefully review this policy before placing an order to ensure clear understanding and realistic expectations.

General Policy Overview

Due to the nature of live animals, all sales are considered final once a parrot has been shipped or collected, except in specific circumstances outlined in this policy. Returns based on change of mind, personal circumstances, or incompatibility are not permitted.

Our policies are in place to prevent unnecessary stress, repeated relocation, or harm to the birds.

Eligibility for Refund or Replacement

A refund or replacement may be considered only under the following conditions:

  • A serious health condition is identified shortly after arrival

  • The condition is verified by a licensed avian veterinarian

  • The issue is proven to have existed prior to shipment

  • Written veterinary documentation is provided within the required timeframe

Each case is reviewed individually to ensure fairness and animal welfare.

Health-Related Concerns Upon Arrival

Customers must inspect their parrot immediately upon arrival. If any serious health concern is noticed, the following steps must be taken:

  1. The issue must be reported promptly upon discovery

  2. The parrot must be examined by a licensed avian veterinarian

  3. Written veterinary documentation must be provided confirming the diagnosis

  4. The documentation must state that the condition was not caused by stress, injury, or improper care after delivery

Minor stress-related symptoms—such as temporary reduced appetite, quiet behavior, or adjustment stress—are not considered valid reasons for refunds or returns, as these are normal responses to relocation.

Timeframe for Reporting Issues

Health-related claims must be reported within a short and reasonable period after arrival. Delayed reports may not be eligible for review, as extended timeframes make it difficult to determine the origin of the issue.

Failure to follow the reporting timeline may result in denial of any refund or replacement request.

Refund Resolution Process

If a claim is approved after review, Flori Birds may offer one of the following resolutions, depending on the situation:

  • Replacement with another parrot of similar species and value (subject to availability)

  • Partial refund

  • Full refund (rare and case-specific)

The method of resolution is determined at our discretion, based on veterinary evidence, circumstances, and the best interest of the bird.

Return Conditions (If Applicable)

In rare cases where a return is approved, the following conditions apply:

  • The parrot must be returned only with prior written authorization

  • The bird must be transported safely and humanely

  • All transport arrangements must meet animal welfare standards

  • Return costs are typically the responsibility of the customer

Unauthorized returns will not be accepted.

Non-Refundable Situations

Refunds or returns will not be granted under the following circumstances:

  • Change of mind after purchase

  • Incompatibility with household members or other pets

  • Allergies or personal preferences

  • Lack of time, experience, or commitment

  • Failure to provide proper care, diet, or housing

  • Stress-related behaviors common during adjustment

  • Damage or injury caused after delivery

Parrots require patience and understanding, especially during their initial adjustment period.

Shipping and Transport Fees

Shipping, transport, and administrative fees are non-refundable, even if a refund or replacement is approved. These costs are incurred regardless of the outcome and cannot be recovered.

Owner Responsibility

By purchasing a parrot from Flori Birds, the buyer acknowledges full responsibility for the care, environment, and wellbeing of the bird upon delivery. Proper nutrition, housing, enrichment, and veterinary care are essential.

Failure to meet basic care standards may void any eligibility for refunds or replacements.

Ethical Considerations

Our Refund and Return Policy is structured to prioritize the welfare of our parrots. Frequent transfers or unnecessary returns can cause severe stress and long-term behavioral issues. For this reason, we encourage thoughtful decision-making before committing to parrot ownership.

Policy Acceptance

Placing an order with Flori Birds constitutes full acceptance of this Refund and Return Policy. Customers are advised to read all policies carefully and ask questions prior to purchase.

Our Commitment

While we maintain firm policies, we also value fairness and integrity. Legitimate concerns are handled with care, professionalism, and respect. Our goal is to ensure the wellbeing of our parrots while maintaining honest and responsible business practices.
